Candee wanted to vary our routine tonight so we went to a nearby development to walk. It's a planned community with ponds, walking trails, a pool, community center, etc.
It's not completed yet and boy were we surprised when we started to walk on the walking trail and it would just suddenly end. That happened several times so we ended up mostly walking on the street or sidewalks. The funny thing was that the walking trails are right up to the edge of people's yards and I guess it would be a little awkward to be relaxing outside and have strangers casually walk by.
We ended up walking for almost 50 minutes and were lucky enough to finish before a big downpour of rain.

The "check my apples" walk
I guess you could say that I "adopted" this apple tree a couple of months ago. It has been fun to watch it's progress and I'm proud to say that the apples on this tree are MUCH bigger than the apples on any other tree that we've seen.
We also had fun watching the baby calf frolicking in the field. It's great to see how much it changes over short periods of time. It was a beautiful day for a walk, even though neither Candee, nor I were very motivated tonight.

The buffalo loop backwards walk
Another beautiful day in the country. The apples are starting to get big and the trees are just loaded with the delicious fruit. We have a great time checking out the progress as we do our walks.
Today we did the loop backwards. You wouldn't think so, but it just didn't feel right. We definitely like going the other way and I doubt we'll ever do it backwards again!

Buffalo Loop
Today we got a fairly early start and walked the buffalo loop for an hour. It was hot and muggy but we had a great time...like usual!

The mall walk
We got a late start and it wasn't looking so great outside, so Candee and I walked in the mall for about 40 minutes...I guess you could say it's better than nothing!

Finally walking again!
After a lot of long days and stressful events, I was able to get back to walking with Candee again. It was nice to see her and talk to her after many days of not being able to do that. We walked the Buffalo loop for about an hour.

The Flip Flop At The End of the Walk
Dear Phil,
I still wasn't feeling that great today, and Candee lured me into walking by dangling a trip to Old Navy afterward to buy $1.00 flip flops. How could I refuse an offer like that?
We were going to do the Buffalo Loop, but they were spraying pesticides in the fields and the smell was a bit overwhelming. Since we were heading towards Hagerstown for Old Navy, we decided to walk on the C&O Canal in Williamsport.
We passed through a few rain showers on the way, but we ended up having no rain during our walk and it was very nice. A lot of people were walking or riding bikes today and it wasn't the nice quiet walk we have become accustomed to. Nevertheless, we had a great walk and were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. It seems like the time always flies by when we're walking and talking.
I can't say we were so lucky with Old Navy however. When we arrived, the lines of people trying to check out with purchases wound up and down the aisles throughout the store. One woman said she had already been in line for an hour and 15 minutes. We decided we didn't need $1.00 flip flops that bad and just went home.
So, no $1.00 flip flops after all...boy, Candee is awfully sneaky sometimes!

The walk I had to force myself to do
Dear Phil,
I wasn't feeling so great today, but when Candee asked if I wanted to walk, of course I said yes. My one condition was that we didn't go at a fast pace.
We ended up doing the buffalo loop and it was fine. We walked for about an hour and I felt okay afterwards and was glad that I went. It was a stressful day at work and I really needed it even though I was a bit under the weather. I had to push myself a bit but it's always nice to be out with Candee and getting caught up with each other on things that have been going on.

The New York City Walk
Dear Phil,
Today Candee and I went to New York City for the day. We had a fantastic time and the weather couldn't have been better! We started out by going to the Empire State Building. Neither one of us had ever been there and it was a great way to start the day. We got some great pictures and talked to some really nice people.
After this, we decided to got to lunch and headed for a restaurant called Tortilla Flats that had been recommended to Candee by one of her friends. It was a good choice and we definitely would like to go back sometime.
Our next destination was the Hudson River and Battery Park. We had planned to go to Liberty Island to take pictures but decided we would be too rushed. We walked around the park for awhile, taking pictures.
Our pick up point to go home was back close to the Empire State Building and we debated on how to get back there...subway, taxi or walk. Walking won out because of how pretty the day was. Neither one of us felt like riding a subway on such a pretty day.
We were curious about how we had walked so Candee figured it our by using
All in all, we had a fantastic day. We definitely would like to return sometime and are hoping to do that sometime this summer.

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Walk
Dear Phil,
Today we were off from school for elections. Because of this, Candee and I originally planned to do a 14 mile hike on the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal. However, after checking the weather reports and seeing an 80-100% chance of rain, we decided to go a shorter distance. We still hiked on the canal, but only went about 7 and 1/2 miles.
We started out fairly early and we got most of the walk in before the rain started about 20 minutes before we 'were finished. It was a fairly light rain and with the foliage from the trees above us, we didn't get too wet.
It was a very pleasant walk and toward the point where we decided to turn around, there were several caves up on the hill and we climbed up to do a little bit of exploring. It was a very steep climb, but Candee got me to go up, even though I was a bit hesitant at first.

The VERY WINDY Hill Walk
Dear Phil,
Today started out to be rainy and windy. Halfway through the morning the rain cleared, the skies became a bright blue, BUT... the wind remained. Candee and I had some business to take care of early, so it was early in the afternoon when we started our walk.
We decided to do the the hill walk, but because of the extreme winds, we felt we had to add the VERY WINDY to it. We had a great time as usual and of course talked about when we're on The Amazing Race!

Oops!
Dear Phil,
I don't know what to say. There was a lot going on today and there will be tomorrow too, so no walk for me. Candee will still be walking, so I guess one out of two isn't bad! I hope to be back to walking with Candee on Thursday, and will do my best to walk a bit more at work to make up for my lack of a designated walk.

The Buffalo Loop Walk at Dusk
Dear Phil,
I wasn't feeling very well today so I almost didn't go along on a walk with Candee. She had some things to do right after work, so it was going to be later when she planned on going. Initially I said I wasn't going to go, but I changed my mind when she called to tell me she was just leaving.
It was almost 7:00 PM when we started out, and it was just beautiful with a cool breeze and the sun was just beginning to descend behind the mountains. I'm really happy that I ended up going and felt a little better as I walked and talked with Candee. We ended up walking for 58 minutes.

The Country Roads Walk
Dear Phil,
Today we decided to do the 7.5 mile Country Roads Walk, even though it looked like it was going to rain at times. It was hot and humid but the time just seemed to fly by as we walked, chatted and took pictures.
We passed rustic barns, herds of goats, mules, orchards and many other beautiful sights that made the walk very pleasurable.
As a reward to ourselves, we had appointments for a facial and massage later in the afternoon and ended the evening by partaking in one of our favorite activities~watching Amazing Race!

The Better Late than Never Walk
Dear Phil,
Today I had to go out of town to attend a meeting, and I was away for almost the whole day. I called Candee when I was on my way home and was surprised when she asked me if I wanted to walk with her when I got home. It was going to be fairly late when I arrived home, but of course I said yes. It was not quite dark when we finished and of course the sky and the landscape had a completely different look to it then when we walk earlier. Even though the sun was down, it was still humid but we had a very enjoyable time.

The "I'm Glad I'm Not at Walmart" Walk
Dear Phil,
Before we started our walk today, Candee and I made a trip to a sporting goods store to purchase some lightweight shirts to wear on our hikes. We had a great time trying on clothing and looking around the store.
While we were there, Candee mentioned a workout item that a friend of hers swears is the best thing since sliced bread. We decided to check it out but couldn't find it there and went to Walmart, which is where her friend had told her she bought it. (I still can't believe I'm actually admitting we went to Walmart, let alone that we went there on a Friday night!)
Candee's friend told her that the item was called The Bean. We looked and looked, but the closest thing we could find was something that was described as a peanut. It looks like a cross between a bean and a peanut, so at least I think we're on the right track. I guess the next step is to see if it really works.
When we finally started our walk, it was later than we thought and we ended up walking 53 minutes. We still had a great time and it was beautiful seeing the fields and mountains in the dusky twilight.

The Hoop Walk
Dear Phil,
Candee dubbed today's walk The Hoop Walk because we combined the buffalo loop and the hill walk. We walked for 2 hours and 20 minutes before calling it a day. It was still windy but the temperature was warmer than it has been for several days.
It was so pretty out and we were having such a good time that we just kept on walking. You'd think that Candee and I would run out of things to talk about since we're together so much, but I don't think that will happen any time soon!

The Cold and Windy Walk
Dear Phil,
You'd almost never know it's the end of April. It was really cool and very windy today. Candee and I walked for 66 minutes and it felt like a lot more because of how strong the wind was. We hit a lot of resistance and it really felt like a good workout. Even so, a little less wind and some warmer temperatures would be nice for tomorrow.

The Short Walk
Dear Phil,
This started out to be a short walk and in reality we walked for a full hour anyway. The sky was constantly changing in appearance, the fields were lush and green, and it was a beautiful day to be outside. The only thing was that the wind was blowing and the temperature was a bit on the cool side. It was a little difficult to decide on what to wear because one minute we were comfortable, then cool, then warm.
Candee wanted to walk for only 50 minutes because she had other things to do in preparation for watching American Idol. It was so nice and we were having so much fun talking and laughing, that we walked a little longer and even took a few minutes to stop and see the bison and cattle, (like usual)!
Tomorrow will probably bit a bit shorter again because I have a meeting to go to and Candee is being nice enough to rearrange her plans so she can walk after work with me. Thanks, Candee!

The Alphabet Walk...OR....All We're Missing is the "P"!
We had a lot of rain off and on all day today, and we were pretty much resigned to the fact that we'd have to walk inside at the mall. We were very happy when it cleared up early in the evening and we took off for our walk. We walked for about an hour and 40 minutes and were happy that the rain held off for the most part until we were back at the car.
It was an interesting walk to say the least. First of all, the clouds were hanging low over the mountains and created a completely different type of scene than we normally view. All aspects of the walk are very pretty and picturesque, and the wisps of low-lying clouds added a bit of mystery to it.
As we walked along, Candee needed to go to the bathroom and said very loudly, "I have to pee!" Just as she started to speak, I thought heard a voice to the right in the woods and when I started to tell her, we heard a male voice say hello and a man showed himself and his dog to us. Needless to say, Candee was very embarrassed and decided to hold off until we got further down the road. We decided to come up with code in the future for this type of event. From now on, we'll just say, "mnoq" and we'll know that all we're missing is the "p"!
Well, as we started the return part of the walk, we heard a vehicle come up behind us and Candee said, "I bet that's my boyfriend." We looked over and the man we had just seen in the woods drove by and gave us a jaunty little wave and grin. We just burst out laughing and kept on walking.
All I can say is, "We're
